Treatment; 14 Aug 1992; None; Organics
Reason
Permanent Exhibition
Description
Following tests, the object was consolidated by immersion in 5% Paraloid B72 ethylmethacrylate copolymer dissolved in 50:50 Xylene and acetone. During immersion the two side sections of the tenon which had previously been secure became detatched. Object immersed for 2 hours until no further air bubbles where observed. Dried in an atmoshere saturated with acetone to prevent back migration of the resin. Previous adhesive removed from sections of tenon with acetone and the sections readhered with 20% w/v Paraloid B72 in acetone.
