Description: Leather strip on top carefully removed. Mail immersed in a bath of acetone and swilled around. Removed and patted dry with paper tissues. Lightly burnished with a soft glass fibre brush, and coated with a small amount of Renaissance wax (cosmolloid 80H-microcrystalline wax,BASF hard wax "A"-polyethylene wax,white spirit) applied on a soft brush. Soft iron links butt joined of similar appearance and weight to the originals were used to deal with any holes.
