Description: The surface of the stela was brushed and vacuumed to remove the dust. No further cleaning proved possible as Groomstick was ineffective and other mechanical methods too agressive. The friable edges to both the painted areas and exposed areas of gesso were consolidated with an application of 20% v/v Vinamul 3252 (vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer) in distilled water, areas wetted pre consolidation with white spirit. The results of this has meant there has been some slight darkening to the pink and light brown areas.
