Treatment; 16 Jul 1991; Recolour fillet.; Stone, Wall Paintings, Mosaics

Reason: Permanent Exhibition
Description: The surface of the fillet was smoothed with a rasp and sand paper, the holes were filled with polyfilla. As there were areas on the fillet that were powdery the surface was sealed with 2% paraloid B72 in acetone. The fillet was then painted with Cryla acrylic colours. An attempt was made to remove the old plaster make up at the base, but some of this was impossible to remove. This residue of plaster was toned to match the surrounding stone with Cryla acrylic paints.
