Treatment; 18 Jun 1991; Clean. Remove plaster of Paris residue. remove dowels and enlarge holes as required.; Stone, Wall Paintings, Mosaics

Reason: Permanent Exhibition
Description: The surface was carefully steam cleaned using distilled water. The museum number was removed from the face with acetone applied on cotton wool swabs. The number was replaced on the side of the object using Acrylic Cryla paints. The traces of plaster on the base were removed mechnically. The copper dowels were removed from the base by drilling away the plaster. The dowel holes were slightly enlarged to allow for a 3/4 inch stainless steel dowel, these were were fixed with Sebralit polyester resin. The object was then mounted onto a new piece of York stone. Dowel holes were drilled and the stela fixed to the base with Sebralit polyester resin.
