Description
Cleaned surface of stone with distilled water on cotton wool swabs. Consolidated powdery areas with 2 parts PVB to 100 parts IMS v/v - E Miller. Additional consolidation by A.Gill to powdery areas using 2.5% polyviny butyral in IMS applied by pipette. Areas of excess plaster of Paris were softened with cotton wool swabs of distilled water and the softened plaster removed with a scalpel. These fills were coloured with dry pigments and polyvinyl butyralin acetone/IMS. Any new areas requirng fill were filled with a paste of 20% polyvinyl butyral, kaolin and microballoons. Therse fills were toned to match the surrounding stone using dry pigments in 2.5% polyvinyl butyral. The red and black paint was removed with Yellow label Nitromors, dichlormethane using a sable brush and neutralised with acetone.
