- Curator's comments
- Egyptian tentmakers create ornately patterned, hand-sewn cotton appliqué textiles known as khayamiya (tentmakers fabric) for tent interiors. These fabrics are also now used to create soft furnishings or fashion items, often for the tourist trade, and with the onset of covid-19 were utilized to make facemasks.
