A group of several small artefacts including 5 copper alloy buttons (?), a tinned copper alloy button, 2 finger rings, 4 other rings, several copper alloy fragments and strips, 4 fragments of lead, 2 silver rings, a piece of string, 2 copper alloy clips (?), an iron nail, 2 copper alloy discs and 1 silver disc, 7 copper alloy or silver implements or accessories and 1 glass fragment:
A. Copper buttons [?] x 5. Each is almost hemispherical having three to five holes punched near the edge, diameter 2.30cm.
B. Tinned copper button [?]. Shallow dish-shape with three holes evenly spaced near edge, diameter 2.80cm.
C. Finger ring of copper alloy with a round cross-section. Diameter 2.10cm, maximum thickness 0.20cm.
D. Finger ring made of a copper alloy strip, thickness 0.05cm, width 0.20cm. Approximate diameter of the ring 1.90cm.
E. Rings x 4. Each made from a copper strip which has been fashioned into a 'c'-shaped
cross section. The sizes vary:
i. Diameter 2.05cm, width 0.03cm, thickness 0.05cm.
ii. Diameter 1.80cm, width 0.80cm, thickness 0.05cm.
iii. This ring is somewhat flattened; estimated diameter 2.00cm, width 0.30cm and thickness 0.05cm. A 8.00cm length of double twist string is knotted on to this
iv. Diameter 2.20cm, width 0.40cm, thickness 0.02cm
F. Copper/copper-alloy fragments:
i. Strip; 7.80cm x 2.60cm [max] x 0.05cm.
ii. Strip; 4.30cm x 1.40cm x 0.10cm.
iii. Folded tapering strip; 9.10cm x 1.20cm [max] x 0.15cm.
iv. Curved sheet; 2.70 cm [max], x 1.10cm x 0.05cm.
v. Copper split cylinder; 0.80cm, 0.95cm.
vi. Miscellaneous fragments of sheet metal of irregular shape x 5.
vii. Lump of copper alloy; length 4.05max, max thickness 0.85cm.
G. Lead fragments:
i. Flat strips x 4; ranging in size: 4.90cm x 0.40cm to 1.45cm x 0.20cm.
ii. Flat strip rolled into a cylinder; diameter 0.70cm, height 0.70cm [max].
iii. Flat folded tapering strip; 4.20cm [approx] x 1.60cm [max].
iv. Irregular-shaped fragments x 2.
H. Silver rings:
i. Three 0.45cm wide strips which are the flattened remains of finger rings; the longest measures 6.20cm, the shortest 5.10cm.
ii. A single ring, approximate diameter 2.20cm v 0.25cm width, wrapped in a tangled ball of double twist string.
I. String; A 28.0cm length of quatruple twist string with a knot 13.0cm from one end. Each end is frayed.
J. Clips [?]:
i. Copper alloy; wire bent to form an open-ended oval diameter [max] 1.20cm, thickness 0.15cm.
ii. Iron wire bent to form an oval open-ended loop, the ends being pointed and sharp. Diameter [max] 1.20cm, thickness 0.10cm. The loops are interlocked.
K. Iron nail; length 3.45cm, cross-section 0.20cm x 0.30cm.
L. Discs:
i. Copper alloy disc diameter 2.40, thickness 0.15cm.One surface is plain, the other bears three concentric grooves; at 0.20cm, 0.35cm and 0.80cm from the centre.
ii. Copper alloy disc diameter 2.00cm, thickness 0.02cm. The edge has been carefully turned down.
iii. Silver disc diameter 2.10cm, thickness 0.01cm.
M. Metal implements or accessories:
i. Flat and hemispherical with a tab at the apex and two others at the corners. Sheet copper with indentations neatly hammered all around the edge for decoration. One surface is plain, the other has an up-turned flange. Width 2.20cm, radius of semicircle 1.20cm.
ii. Silver bead(?) oval and hollow. One surface is flat; the other rounded with traces of striations along the length.A well-defined hole is present at one end and a larger jagged hole at the other; Length 1.10cm, width [max] 0.70, thickness 0.40cm.
iii. Silver plaque. Diamond-shaped with one side plain the other decorated with a raised knob at each corner of the diamond and another in the centre, a border consisting of a spiral patter is found 0.1cm wide on each side of the diamond. Dimensions 1.50cm x 0.75cm, thickness 0.12cm.
iv Copper strip with holes near each end. Length 2.15cm, width 1.00cm, thickness 0.02cm.
v. Tinned-copper sheet fragment of a large flat circular object, with an irregular hole towards one end. Length 2.45cm, maximum width 1.02cm.
vi. Copper-alloy bracket [?]. A rounded slightly concave part [depth 1.30cm], with two holes, is bent at right angles to another part [depth 1.60cm] which is also concave. Width [max] 2.20cm
vii. Copper peg; length 2.00cm with a round cross-section, diameter 0.40cm. One end has been worked into a square [0.30cm x 0.30cm]; at the other end is a eyelet [0.60cm with a hole diameter of 0.20cm].
N. Glass fragment; black in colour and irregular in shape: 1.40cm x 1.25cm x 0.50cm.
