- Description
-
A string of many small long and standard truncated convex bicone beads and barrels, some larger lenticular and irregularly shaped beads, all of garnet, and a single small cornelian barrel. In shape the six large lenticular beads are squares with two rounded edges; the four smaller lenticular beads are flattened ovals. There are two large plano-convex beads and one smaller triangular faceted bead. The string is completed by a number of narrow rectangular lenticular beads. All the beads have large biconical borings. Some of the garnet beads are damaged, all are of a pure translucent deep-red colour.

- Curator's comments
- The bicones and barrels in this string are identical to those in 1902,0412.175 (of cornelian); both strings have beads with very wide borings, a feature typical of Old Kingdom manufacture. However, garnet is a material most characteristic of Middle Kingdom bead strings. Some of the beads may even be modern.
