- Curator's comments
- Cf. R. Engelbach 'Harageh' (London, 1923), pl.LII, 73A. E, N; LII, 791; 801): all Middle Kingdom; Earl of Carnarvon & H. Carter, 'Five Years' Exploration at Thebes, 1907-11' (London, 1912), pl.XLV, 2B: Middle Kingdom.
Although it has been suggested (M. Vilímková, ‘Egyptian Jewellery’ (London, 1969), pl.21f) that in such strings (which appear to be composed completely of garnet beads) the damaged beads are really of glass or a glazed substance, no evidence has been found from examination of beads in this entry to confirm this supposition.
