- Description
-
Unwrapped mummy of an elderly woman, with four wax figures of the Sons of Horus wrapped in textile.
Skull - No obvious fractures. Mouth closed and all teeth present. The cervical spine appears intact.
Thorax and Abdomen - The ribs, dorsal and lumbar vertebrae, pelvis, and hips are free from dislocations, fractures, and disease, and there are no arthritic changes, but the inter-vertebral discs appear opaque. There is an oblong opacity in the left hemithorax in the upper part of which is a radiolucent area resembling the head of a bird, facing right. In the right hemithorax there are three larger similar-shaped opacities the largest of which extends well into the right hypochondrium. This last object appears to have been folded upon itself in its longitudinal axis. In the upper end of the middle of these opacities is a quite distinct radiolucent areas, the outline of which takes the form of the head of a jackal, facing right. Between these four masses is a semi-radiolucent amorphous shadow, probably representing a bundle of linen. the four packages seem to be the parcels of viscera, each with a was figure of its guardian deity. The heads of the bird (falcon) and the jackal are those of Qebhsenuef and Duamutef respectively. In the pelvis is a large ball of linen, resin, and wood-dust.
Arms - Extended. The palmar surfaces of the hands rest on the outer aspect of the thighs.
Legs - The bones of the lower limbs seem to be free from disease. No lines of arrested growth. There is a crack fracture in the lower end of the left fibula, almost certainly post mortem.
There is a headrest in association with this mummy.
