- Curator's comments
- Provenance not specified in the Museum register, but very probably from Tell Dafana, according to the context of the item in the list, and similarity with other amulets surely from the site, particularly London, BM, EA 20683.
If from Tell Dafana, possibly one of the 4 + 2 "Shu" among the "glazed pottery amulets of late work, probably late Ptolemaic", from the North-west mound, mentioned by W.M.F. Petrie, Tanis ii, Nebesheh and Defenneh, p. 79 § 79, and not the "glazed ware" "Shu" found in chamber 18 with a smaller green "Tahuti" (ibid., p. 74 § 72).
