Description
Copper alloy bowl: with a rounded base, angular shoulders and flared rim. Part of the rim and some of the base is missing. The main decoration on this bowl consists of alternating figures of a hero and a rampant lion engaged in combat. The human figure has an Egyptian hair-style and wears a kilt of Egyptian shape. He is armed with a spear or sword, with which he attacks the lion. In the centre of the bowl is a flower pattern surrounded by a frieze of gazelles and a lion, framed between bands of cable pattern. Around the inside of the rim is a frieze of running dogs, possibly in pursuit of a hare. On the shoulder, both inside and outside the bowl, are bands of segmented decoration.
