- Curator's comments
- 'A Quest for Contemporary Felts in Anatolia', text written by the vendor, gives details of felt production and use. See Curator's Comments for entry As2001,07.1. According to the collector the stylised floral design either side of ovoid shape is a tulip (lower part) and an artichoke (upper part), a type of patterning is called 'enginar'. Made for use on special occasions, and entirely from memory. The collector chose designs from the maker's album. The criss cross patterning is called 'cage' and derives from Turkish window grilles.
