Village woman’s “rumi” (roman) dress with long pointed sleeves (irdan) made of handwoven indigo-dyed and black coloured linen. The chest panel (qabbeh) is embroidered with cross-stitch in mainly red and embellished with vividly coloured floss silk. The neck opening has a white glass button for closure and is finished with yellow and black striped Syrian satin (atlas). The yoke is made of pale red coloured cotton with black stripes and blue and yellow silk brocade motifs. The top sleeve inserts (rkab) are made of orange and red silk taffeta (heremzi) and embroidered with fishbone stitch in vividly coloured floss silk as well as couching in gold coloured metallic cord and magenta, orange, green and pale purple silk cord. The front and back of skirt and side panels are embroidered with cross-stitch in mainly red and embellished with vividly coloured floss silk. The skirt panels are joined together using plait joining stitch in red and vividly coloured floss silk. The inside bottom part of the skirt is lined with a pale red and yellow brocade cotton and a patch of blue and white chequered linen.
