A towel for ceremonial use. Made of natural cream tabby cotton cloth with selvedges at the longer sides. The centre field is plain with identical decoration towards each warp end. The decoration consists of stylised foliage in a vase with symmetrical patterning around the central vertical line, particularly stemmed flowers, zigzag lines and diamond patterns with a cross ('+') in the centre. the decopration is all embroidered in cross stitch using red and some black cotton yarn. The warp ends are turned and hand stitched with simple cutwork near the edge. A little staining and some red dye transfer to the centre field.
