- Curator's comments
- The source of the turquoise is most likely to be north-east Iran, and small beads of this material were relatively common in the Pumpelly excavations at Merv where they formed almost 22 % of the total; lapis lazuli, agate, greenstone and unidentified stone beads are also reported from these investigations (Schmidt 1908).
