Portrait of a Mahzar; painting mounted onto an album folio, B side. This common serjeant or office of a court of justice who summons persons to appear in court is shown holding a staff and wearing a round turan with a red cap, blue short-sleeved kaftan, sage green tunic, red trousers and yellow shoes. Green cypress cut-outs on either side. Inscribed. Album contains sixty folios with fifty-nine paintings of figures, and additional découpages, including floral and vegetal decoration in some margins.
Ink and opaque watercolour, with découpage on paper. Album covered with green leather.
