Portrait of a young man; single-page painting mounted on album folio. A young man in a bright pink robe with a wide floral striped sash at his waist is seated in a spindly chair with a green back. He wears a tall black hat with jewelled ornaments. With his left hand he holds the dagger tucked into his belt. A jewelled amulet or pocket watch dangles from his belt. Album contains 19 paintings of Persian costumes.
Ink and opaque watercolour on paper. Album bound in green leather with gold gilt trim, with pages of gold trim. Includes loose letter (in French) on thin blue paper describing contents and addressed to recipient.
