- Curator's comments
- The nearest substantial site of antiquity to the town of Erzincan is the mound of Altintepe and the name of this site, coupled with its Achaemenid upper level, strongly suggests that this is the findspot. Shallow versions of this ultimately late Assyrian type were also copied in cut glass and cheaper materials such as bronze and ceramic. The metal versions were either left plain or were decorated with horizontal fluting or lobing.
