- Curator's comments
- The Civitates will be catalogued extensively in Peter van der Krogt's 'Koeman's Atlantes Neerlandici IV, Town Atlases' (forthcoming: see Editorial to New Hollstein, Remigius and Frans Hogenberg).
Two drawings of Windsor by Hoefnagel is in the Royal Collection (inv. 12936 and 13261).The first (12936) is a preliminary study by Joris, with figures taken from his costume book. The second, smaller drawing (13261), squared for transfer for the engraving, probably not by Hoefnagel himself but copied after a now-lost drawing.
