- Curator's comments
- The inscription refers to 'Langer Fritz', a cavalry captain of a Swedish regiment who during the Battle of Breitenfeld chased after the wounded Count Tilly. However, the soldier was killed and hence the capture of Tilly prevented.
On stylistic grounds, Paas attributes this work to the Strasbourg publisher and engraver Jacob von der Heyden.
