- Curator's comments
- See Naoko Takahatake, 'The chiaroscuro woodcut in Renaissance Italy', Los Angeles County Museum of Art 2018, cats.29 and 30. There are four known related drawings by Parmigianino. This is one of the four woodcuts that Vasari listed as having been cut by Antonio da Trento after Parmigianino. It is only known in a single state, and was reprinted after Parmigianino's death. This impression is the only one of the three in the BM that was printed in Parmigianino's workshop in 1527-30 (information kindly communicated by Naoko Takahatake).
