- David Alexander has kindly provided the following information:
A subscription for the print of Moses by Bernard Baron, which was Baron’s first singly issued English print, was advertised in the 'Daily Courant' of 17 and 24 June 1719, half a crown down and half a crown on delivery 'which will be about the end of September'. Subscriptions were to be given to Pelletier in Queen Street, near Golden Square, 'over against the Apothecary', and five other sellers; [Edward] Cooper at the Three Pigeons, Taylor at the Golden Lion; Banister, Stationer; Mr Penkethman; and at 'the great Print-shop the corner of Hemming’s Row' (which was Hennekin’s shop). In the event the print was not ready until January 1720, when it was advertised that impressions would be 'Ready to be delivered to subscribers on 22 inst'; the price to non-subscribers was to be seven shillings ('Daily Courant', 13 Jan. 1720).
