- Curator's comments
- One of a series of oval portraits of actors, all of which seem to be illustrations to 'The Dramatic Mirror' by Thomas Gilliland ((London, C.Chapple, 1808). See T.7,53 to 63.

- Acquisition notes
- Although unrecorded in the 'Book of Donations', T,7.53 to 63 all seem to have been given by Cheesman, who is recorded as having made a gift of his work in 1812.
A different impression of this print was inventoried as T,9.52. This is recorded in the 'Book of Donations 1756-1823' under the date 9 February 1822 as the gift from Mrs Clara Maria Pope. This second impression was presumably disposed of as a duplicate.
