- This print is an example of a popular type known as "We are Seven" that appears in graphic art throughout Europe from at least the sixteenth century: a group of foolish figures numbers one fewer than the title so that the viewer makes up the total (see S.O'Connell, 'The Popular Print in England', London, 1999, pp. 122-23). Other examples include S.6595, S.3800, 1880,0710.841, 1893,0331.13, 1932,0709.16, 1980,1011.5, 1999,0328.7, 2000,0930.64, 2009,7032.1 and 2009,7032.2.
