- Curator's comments
- Despite the old inscription naming Tamagni, this drawing was listed as a work by the Spanish XVIc painter Luis de Morales in the Payne Knight manuscript catalogue made by W.H. Carpenter in 1845. The sheet was only returned to Tamagni by Popham, who noted its relation to two drawings of the 'Procession to Calvary', in the Albertina and Pierpont Morgan Library. While accepting the attribution, Rust has question whether the London and New York sheets were made for the same commission as the Viennese one.
