- Curator's comments
- See Popham 1967, nos. 173 - 216. For comment see also Pp,2.138.
An attribution to Lucas Vorsterman I is plausible; for the etching in reverse by Lucas Vorsterman II see W,2.145.
Popham 1967
Original unknown. Etched in reverse by Vorsterman (W,2.145). The inscription Jacob on another copy of the same original at Windsor (0573; Popham, no. 641) presumably reproduces an inscription by the artist. An original drawing of Jacob alone is in the Louvre (R.F. 548; photo. Gernsheim 7032; 'O.M.D'. ix (1934-5), pl. 60). That and the original of Pp,2.159 may have been made in connection with the Steccata.

- Acquisition notes
- The source of drawings Popham 1967, nos. 173 to 216 was probably a small volume bought by Knight in the sale of Lord Spencer's Colln (Philipe, 18.vi.1811/880) coming from the Colbert's library.
