- From a series of sixteen plates engraved by Blondel, first published in Mariette's 'L'architecture françoise' (Paris: Mariette, 1727-1738), a compendium of French architectural projects from the 18th century. Although the set is usually known as Mariette's Architecture, and although several engravers (among whom A. Herisset, P. Lepautre, C. Lucas) and designers (Delamonce, J. M. Chevotet, P. C. Prevostel, Pineau) took part in the completion of the project, it is believed that Blondel had a major role in its design and execution (see Emil Kaufmann , 'The Contribution of Jacques-François Blondel to Mariette's Architecture Françoise', in "The Art Bulletin", Vol. 31, No. 1 (Mar., 1949), pp. 58-59).
The plates Blondel engraved were later re-used in 'Architecture Françoise' (Paris: Jombert, 1752-56), a set published under Blondel's name this time and featuring additional and descriptions written by the engraver.
