- Curator's comments
- We are grateful to David Alexander (email October 2020) for identifying the printmaker and supplying the following information:
'This print is presumably the sixpenny print advertised as 'An etch'd print of Mr Shuter, drawn and etch'd by Mr Burgess' (Daily Advertiser, 7 April 1752, cited in the Buckley Papers, in P&D). Burgess must be Thomas Burgess (1730?-91), represented by other etchings such as 'A Club of Artist's' (BM Satires 3278)'.
