- Curator's comments
- Burnim and Highfill identify the artists as Thornthwaite and Roberts, apparently from the 1776-1777 edition, which is also lettered 'Painted from a picture in the possession of D. Garrick Esq.'; they state that it is the 1780 edition in which the artists' names are excised.
Mrs Cibber first played this role on 15th March 1737 at Drury Lane Theatre, and last on 23rd October 1764.
