Summons and invitations from the Court of Sewers. Text within [] indicates handwritten notes:
J,8.200: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, "Saturday [23 April] 180[8] / [Sir] / You are particularly requested to attend the Court of Sewers for the city and Liberty of Westminster and part of the County of Middlesex, to be holden in Carlisle Street, Soho, on Friday next the [29 Inst] at [1] o'Clock [afternoon] precisely at which time the chair will be taken. Mark Peck Bailiff & Cryer", and "[NB. To consider the report of a committee respecting the application on behalf of the Bishop of London & others for leave to maek sewers to communicate with the water courses in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens]". At top Justice blindfolded with sword and scales supporting shield with heraldic devices of the company, in oval, below which "Printed by H. Reynell 21, Piccadilly, Printer to the Commission".
J,8.201: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as above, but with the date 16 April 1808 at the top, and the meeting on the 22nd. Without the N.B.
J,8.202: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 25th November 1809 at the top, and the meeting on the 1st December. With the note "[N.B. To swear a jury to make presentment on Mr Bramaks Premises] (?)"
J,8.203: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200 (but from different plate, and below image "Printed for T. Gardiner, Princes St. Cavendish Sq Stationer to the Commission), with the date changed to 10th February 1810 at the top, and the meeting on the 16th. with the note "[NB to receive Tenders for the performance of the several works]".
J,8.204: Summons, "Sir, / A Committee of Commissioners of Sewers will be held at [this office] on [Tuesday] next, the [4th Inst] at [eleven] o'Clock [in the forenoon] precisely; when the favor of your attendance is particularly requested." Signed by the clerks, with address at top "Sewers Office, No.17 Carlisle Street", crossed out and replaced with "[1 Greek] street", Soho Square". Dated 1st February 1812. With note "[NB Parliamentary Committee]".
J,8.205: Summon, "Sewers Office for Westminster &c. No.17, Carlisle Street, Soho. 21st January 1809 / Sir / I am directed to send for your information, copies of two orders which were made at a Court of Sewers held at this office yesterday, as under..." followed by the two orders, continuing on verso of sheet, and "and I am, in obedience to the aforegoing orders, to request the favour of your attendance at the said Committee", signed by William Wilmot, Clerk.
J,8.206: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 9th July 1808 at the top, and the meeting on the 15th. With the note "[N.B. To swear a jury for making rates]".
J,8.207: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 9th may 1812 at the top, and the meeting on the 15th, and with T. Gardiner's address below image. With the note "[NB on a notice for moving to rescind the order of the 24th April for consolidating the rates of certain sewers]".
J,8.208: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 25th May 1811 at the top, and the meeting on the 29th. With the note, "[N.B. To consider proposal for building new sewer from Half Moon street to South Brixton Mews and other matters]".
J,8.209: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir Joseph Banks, with the same engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 15th April 1815 at the top, and the meeting on the 21st, and with T. Gardiner's address below image. No note.
J,8.210: Summons from the Sewers Office to Sir Joseph Banks, on 19th January 1811, to a meeting on Friday 25th, with an extract from the minutes of a psecial meeting of the Committee of Works, for the further improvement of King's Scholar Pond Sewer, on the 8th January 1811.
J,8.211: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir William Chambers, with similar engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date Saturday 27th September 1788 at the top, and the meeting on the 3rd October. The meeting to be held at Guildhall, and with name of Christopher Robinson, Bailiff & Cryer.
J,8.212: Summons from the Court of Sewers to Sir William Chambers, with similar engraved lettering and image as J,8.200, but with the date 19th February 1791 at the top, and the meeting on the 25th. The meeting to be held at Guildhall, and with name of Christopher Robinson, Bailiff & Cryer.
J,8.213: Summons from the Sewers Office to Sir Joseph Banks, dated 16th August 1814, for a meeting on the 23rd "[to proceed from thence on the Annual View of Kings Scholar Pond Open Sewer]".
