Curator's comments
This letterpress advertises 'The original stone eater' who was on show at Mr Hatch's, Trunk-maker, at 404 Strand, opposite the Adelphi. This phenomenon gave the idea for the satire by Dent of George III swallowing the precious stones given him by Warren Hastings.
