- Curator's comments
- Stuart adds that the sarcophagus of Butes, one of the twin sons of the king of Athens, was found in the ruins of the Temple of Erechtheus, where he became a priest, while his brother Erechtheus succeeded to the kingdom. The other marble was found in the temple of Minerva Polias; he suggests it may have been an altar dedicated to Ceres and Proserpine by Fabius the torch-bearer.
