Curator's comments
According to notes added to the volume, Hh. 1.21 (children and queen of Henry VII engraved by Vertue after Maubeugius) and Hh.1.25 (Edward VI giving charter of Bridewell to the Lord Mayor of London engraved by Vertue after Holbein) have been removed and placed elsewhere in the collection: Vol. 24 "Groups", and English Portraits Atlas, respectively. Manuscript note at the front of the volume: "The Plates belonging to St. Stephen's Chapel were taken out of this volume and are bound up with the rest of what has been published by the Society of Antiq. concerning that structure. June 16 1814. J. B." This is James Bean, assistant librarian in the BM (see 174.c.5). The volume was therefore already in the BM by 1814. There is an advertisement dated 1805 on the last page. For other related volumes see 174.c.3,5 etc. which suggest that the volume may have been among the prints presented to the BM by the Society of Antiquaries, and which are mentioned in the 'Book of Donations'.
