- Curator's comments
- Dimier listed this drawing with copies of "l'Anonyme Lécurieux" (now identified as Jean Decourt). Identified in register as the Earl of Leicester.
The attribution to Decourt was supported by Alexandra Zvereva after examination of the original. The yellow-green wash in the background is uncharacteristic for works of this period and has probably been added by a later hand.
For another work by the same artist, with the same background wash, see Gg,1.421.
