Curator's comments
An oil sketch of the same subject is in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm (Rooses 113); the painting is now lost, formerly in Spain (Rooses 114). The subject was engraved in an upright form by Frans van de Wyngaerde (for comment see R,3.16) and by Erasmus Quellinus (for comment see S.5324).
