- This is a preparatory study for Rosa's painting 'Christ preaching' which is pair of 'Christ exorcising a demon' (both in the Incisa della Rocchetta-Chigi collection, Rome); see L. Salerno, 'Salvator Rosa', Milan 1963, p. 132, no.73 with black and white illustration. The drawing shows a slightly different composition than in the painting, with an extra figure to right and one apostle looking out to the left.
