Curator's comments
The attribution was suggested by Marco Chiarini in his monograph, 'Teodoro Filippo di Liagno detto Filippo Napoletano 1589-1629: Vita e opere', Florence, 2007, no. 289, p. 416, where it is identified as a view in the port of Livorno (and hence datable to his years in Florence 1617-22). It is closely connected (presumably a preparatory study) with a more finished drawing (Chiarini 386) from the Gathorne-Hardy collection.
