- Popham was inclined to think this dates from the artist's time in Rome (1525-7), but Gnann places it at the end of his time in his native Parma (1523-4).

It is difficult to decide whether this is an original drawing or a deceptive old facsimile : I have given it the benefit of the doubt, but would not be surprised if a better version eventually turned up. It (or the original) can in any case be dated at about the same period as Ff,1.88, and was no doubt also made for an engraving.
