- The 1837 Departmental inventory records that this drawing is a 'Sketch from the Original by Loutherbourg'. This may have been recorded in the original volume from which this drawing (with two others by Burney, EE.3.245, 251) was removed. This was volume 11 in the Burney collection of theatrical material in this department. (see User's Guide to P & D, p. 91).

- In 1818 the library of the late Charles Burney, DD was purchased by Parliament for PDS 13,500 and deposited in the British Museum. Thirteen volumes of prints and drawings of theatrical interest were transferred to this Department, volume 11 containing 302 portraits and material relating to David Garrick. Three drawings by Burney (EE.3.71, 245, 251) have been removed and placed with the mounted drawings.
