- From a set of woodcut illustrations first published in the 'Evangelienbuch' printed by Thomas Anshelm in Haguenau, 1516 and expanded for later publications, such as the 'Decachordum Christianum' of 1517. Part of the illustrations are after Schäufelein, to whom the whole set was also previously attributed. (See Hollstin 710-738)
The present set of late impressions printed on both recto and verso of each sheet, is from the 'Doctrina Vita et Passio Iesu Christi' first published by Egenolph in Frankfurt in 1537, followed by further editions in 1542 and 1550. For a bound copy of the 'Doctrina', see 158*.b12.
For the Haguenau set, see Curatorial Comment for 1895,0122.469.
