- Curator's comments
- The BM has eleven of the prints from the series. They are all in a circular format and at the time of production they were also printed as a frieze with many other surrounding the principal scene. Parts of the frieze exist pasted on choir stalls in the church of St Clare in Assisi. For discussion of these prints and this artist see J.M. Massing, 'Jacobus Argentoratensis. Etude preliminaire', Arte Veneta, XXXI, 1977, pp.42-52.
For further information and bibliography see the entry by Silvia Urbini on the online catalogue 'Atlante delle xilografie italiane del Rinascimento', ALU.0152.1.
