- Curator's comments
- The series also published in book form: Burckard Waldis, 'Ursprung und Herkummen der Zwölff ersten alten König ...', Nuremberg: Hans Guldenmund, 1543. (See BM 158 c.9). The book has the same verses in smaller type and on facing pages, the woodcuts in the book without the architectural frames.
Hollstein lists the book as a first edition, the broadside series as a second edition. According to Dodgson, the broadside series was also issued around 1543 and based on the similarities in typeface also published by Guldenmund.
Some of the figures designed by Erhard Schön and Nicolaus Störer, but kept as a series with the Flötner prints.
