Tickets and invitations to balls at the Mansion House. Text within [] indicates hand-written notes:
C,2.1181: Ticket, "The Ball / April 21st 1783. Th Right Honble Nath. Newnham, Lord Mayor", on sheet, held by putto and woman with sword, shield, and castellated crown, with objects of trade and industry, and at top the initials NN on oval, and on banner "Mansion House". Stipple printed in red ink. "W. Wells sculp Fleet Street".
C,2.1182: Ticket, "Mansion House / The Ball / April 12th 1784. The Right Hon Robert Peckham Lord Mayor", with woman playing the harp on a cloud with a putto at top centre, objects associated with plenty and industry on either side, and putti in the corners with sheet music and laurel branches. "Bolton Royal Exchange". Printed in red ink, and stamped with seal.
C,2.1183: Ticket, "Mansion House. The Ball. March 28th 1785. The Right Honble Richd Clark, Lord Mayor", a woman playing lyre to the left, another standing to the right in castellated crown, pointing to putto in sky with sheet music; a lion and shield at bottom centre; shipping masts and barrels in right background. "Bolton sc Royal Exchange".
C,2.1184: Ticket, "This ticket admits one person to the Ball at the Mansion House, on Monday, April 8th 1776. No admittance till 8 o'Clock nor after 11", in oval with Rococo decoration and garlands, printed in red and black ink.
C,2.1185: Ticket, "This ticket admits one person to the Ball at the Mansion House on Monday April 16th 1781. No admittance before 8 o'Clock nor after 11", in patterned oval with oak branches, shieild, and ribbon. Printed in blue ink.
C,2.1186: Ticket, "Mr Goldham is desired by the Lady Mayoress to present her Compliments to _ andto request the honor of [her] company to a [Dress] Ball at the Mansion House on the [3d of June]1812 at Ten o'Clock / It is particularly requested that this card may be brought & deliver'd to the Gentlemen in Waiting."
C,2.1187: Ticket, "Mr Goldham is desired by the Lady Mayoress to present her Compliments to [Mr Edwd Wheler & Miss Whelers] and to request the honor of their company to a Ball at the Mansion House on Easter Monday 1812 at Ten o'Clock. / It is particulary requested that this card may be brought & deliver'd to the gentlemen in waiting and may be transferred in families". Stamped with blind stamp. At top right "[31 South St Grosvenor Sqre]".
