In this catalogue entry the owners of the cards are identified as those holding the title engraved on the card at time of the handwritten date, unless otherwise stated.
C,1.8-9, "Dutchess of St Albans' inscribed '1785' and 'Lady George Beauclerk', '1781': Jane, the last Duchess of St Albans had died in 1778 and her husband's aunt, Lady George Beauclerk (née Bainbridge), had died in 1772. There appear to have been no living persons of those names in the 1780s and Sarah Banks must have added posthumous dates, perhaps to record when she was given the cards.
C,1.13-14: a chinoiserie style card of "Dowgr. Dutchess of Leeds" inscribed "1764" and a neo-classical card of "Dutchess of Leeds" inscribed "1783": both are presumed to have belonged to Juliana, widow of Peregrine, 3rd Duke of Leeds who may have stopped using the term "Dowager" when the succeeding Duchess died in 1764.
