Curator's comments
Dodgson surmised that these woodblocks formed part of the Bagford collection. Corresponding prints are to be found in a complete set of woodcut copies of the 'Grotesque Alphabet of 1464' ('the work of an inexperienced English woodcutter') in Harl. 5934 (BL). These copies may have formed part of Bagford's intended history of printing. See B,10.1-23 for impressions of the original 'Grotesque Alphabet of 1464' in P&D.
