- Curator's comments
- This group of drawings (2021,7021.1, 2021,7021.2 and 2021,7021.3) was inspired by scenes from the trailer for the film 'Emma.' (directed by Autumn de Wilde, 2020). In this scene a girl's hands are shown raising a jelly mould from a plate on which they have shaped a mound of flour ready to play a version of the regency parlour game 'bullet pudding' (described in a letter from Jane Austen's niece Fanny Austen Knight as being played by the Austen family at Christmas; see Jane Struthers, The Book of Christmas, Ebury Press, 2012).
