- Curator's comments
- From a set of four prints: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter (2020,7029.1-4). Published in an edition of 5. Shaw made a related series of paintings 'The Four Seasons' in 2019.
Shaw often references Old Master paintings in his works. In this print, the standing figure is based on the figure of Icarus in Frederic Leighton's 1869 painting 'Icarus and Daedalus' (private collection).
