- Curator's comments
- From a series of four photogravures printed by Niels Borch Jensen and published by Borch Editions, Copenhagen 2019,7049.1-4). Depicting an abandoned, dusty archive, the prints developed from Tan's interest in an idea by the Belgian author Paul Otlet (1868-1944) to create a physical catalogue of all human knowledge. With the aim of achieving world peace, Otlet worked on the project for 40 years from 1895. His vision was never fully realised and the idea has now been rendered obsolete by the internet.
